Before Oren Mortgages, I spent seven years in corporate finance at Woodside Energy and BHP, working across economic forecasting, multi-billion dollar project analysis, and major divestment strategy. Somewhere in between, I also spent years as a financial coach, helping over 500 people get honest about their money.

Oren Mortgages, founded in 2025, is where both halves came together: the analytical rigour of corporate finance, and the plain-language, no-judgement approach I learned from coaching.

THE NUMBER SIDE

Across Woodside Energy and BHP, I worked as an economist and investment analyst, forecasting oil and gas prices, automating modelling processes, and acting as lead analyst on a billion-dollar divestment. I was also primarily resourced to a $13 billion large-scale LNG development project. That background is why I don’t flinch at complex income, business ownership, or a lender who needs convincing.

THE HUMAN SIDE

For several years I also ran my own coaching practice, helping more than 500 people work through their relationship with money and mindset. It’s where I learned that the best financial advice means nothing if the person on the other end doesn’t feel understood. That’s the part I brought with me into mortgage broking.

A neuro-affirming practice, not just a phrase

Everyone processes a big financial decision differently, so I don’t run every conversation the same way.

Some clients think out loud. They ask what they need to ask as it comes up, and we work through it together in real time.

Others come in already having done their own research, with clear ideas formed before we speak. For these clients, my job shifts: I listen for where that research holds up and where it might not, and we clarify or stress-test it together rather than me assuming it’s right. I also build in space to go away and think. We pick the conversation back up once you’ve had time to properly weigh the pros, cons, and the emotional weight of a decision this size, not before.

Oren Mortgages was born out of my own wealth building journey. When I began this journey, I experienced how lonely it felt. I wasn’t “wealthy enough” for the top advisors, and most brokers I met didn’t discuss strategy, tax implications, or long-term planning. I had to educate myself on the tools of the wealthy - trusts, tax strategies, interest-only loans - lessons you don’t learn in school. That journey was isolating, and I don’t want that for you.

It’s why I founded Oren Mortgages: to provide hardworking professionals and families striving for freedom and choice, with guidance, clarity, and strategy. We combine lending expertise with property planning, wealth-building insight, and practical education so that you can take control of your financial future.
